Board Approves 2024-25 School Year Calendar

The new 2024-25 School Year Calendar was approved by the Board of Education. The school year will begin on August 23, 2024 and end on May 30, 2025.

District Updates 2023-24 School Year Calendar

The Board of Education approved an updated calendar for the 2023-24 school year. The first day of school will still be on August 23rd. Changes include changes to the winter and spring breaks.

School Bus Routes and Schedules Posted on School Websites

Parents are invited to review the most recent school bus stop schedule on their school's webstie. Please check back regularly to see if any information/times have changed. For the first week of school, we ask for your patience if any of the routes are delayed. Four Seniors Honored by Governor Kim Reynolds at Iowa Governor Scholar Ceremony

Four members of the Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson Class of 2021 are being honored at an April 25th ceremony hosted by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds as part of the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Program.

The Council Bluffs Community School District releases its second semester honor roll for the 2020-21 school year. The honor roll features students who reached either Bronze, Silver, or Gold level. We could like to congratulate these students for their hard work during the first semester!

Council Bluffs Vex Robotics Club Students Qualify for World Championship

Registration is now open for Council Bluffs summer programming. Parents of middle school students are invited to register. Parents of current 8th graders are invited to register your child for the LYFT program at their high school.

Superintendent Murillo and Board of Education Host Town Hall Meetings

Members of the school district community participated in Community Town Hall meetings to learn about progress made on the district's Strategic Goals, hear about the feedback received during a recent ThoughtExchange survey, and ask questions about the goals and future plans. Thomas Jefferson High School teacher Denise Hoag, has been named to the state Computer Science Work Group, where she will help make recommendations on computer science instruction.

Former Tinley School 1953 Time Capsule Contents Revealed

The time capsule was sealed into the cornerstone of Tinley School on the corner of Avenue G and N. 8th Street in Council Bluffs in 1953. Now, the contents have been revealed! Thanks to the Council Bluffs Public Library and the CB Alumni & Friends Network, many of the items are now on temporary display on the main floor for all to see. History buffs, alumni and former staff at the building may also want to watch the video when the time capsule was opened to reveal the contents.

Wilson Middle School physical education teacher Billy Sanders has been named the 2019-2020 Iowa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD) Teacher of the Year.

AL Sophomore JoAnn Hacker selected as a member of the Statewide Broadband Council

JoAnn Hacker, a sophomore at Abraham Lincoln High School, and nine other high students from across the state were selected to serve on the Iowa Communications Network’s (ICN) Statewide Youth Broadband Advisory Council for the 2020-21 school year.

District Shares Fall Sports Spectator Guidelines; Invites Fans to Watch Games Online

The Council Bluffs Community School District has developed guidelines for spectators to meet health and safety guidelines during our Fall Athletic Season. The biggest change for this year will be limitations on the number of fans/spectators allowed at football and volleyball games as well as swim meets at Kirn Pool.

School Year to Begin in Hybrid Phase

Superintendent Dr. Murillo shared at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday her decision to begin our Council Bluffs Community School District school year in the Hybrid Phase. With fewer students in school on a daily basis, and layers of health and safety measures in place, our goal is to safely reopen our schools and keep them open.
