Principal Casey Moran stood poised in his lucky orange jacket in front of staff and district representatives to reveal that Rue Elementary had been nominated by the Iowa Department of Education to be recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
“This is amazing news, our team strives for excellence every day, and this recognition honors the hard work and dedication of our outstanding staff and students,” said Rue Principal Casey Moran. “I strongly believe this is a reflection of the focus throughout the school district on high quality instructional practices, an engaging curriculum, and the practice of holding all students to high standards.”
The Iowa Department of Education nominated Rue Elementary School to be recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in the Exemplary High Performing School category. According to the state, Rue is among the top 15% of Iowa schools to demonstrate sustainable academic growth in English/language arts and math, and is one of only five schools in the state to be nominated.
“It is very exciting to have Rue recognized at the state level, and represent our school district as a National Blue Ribbon nominee,” said Superintendent Dr. Vickie Murillo. “I am so proud of the work by our entire school community to enhance student achievement.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program is part of a larger U.S. Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about effective school leadership and promising instructional practices.
