In Council Bluffs, we believe in sustained, intensive, collaborative, job-embedded, data-driven, and classroom-focused professional learning. This includes, but is not limited to, increasing educators’ knowledge of academic subjects, exploring how students learn best, analyzing student work and responding appropriately, improving classroom management skills, and advancing understanding of effective instructional strategies.

Educators have a variety of options to access professional learning opportunities. The CB District’s professional learning communities and instructional coaching provide in-time learning embedded in the school day. Weekly early-release and choice-after-school professional learning along with summer learning opportunities provide additional layers of sustained learning tied to District and building goals aimed at increasing student achievement.
